The Architexture project at the University of York is an interdisciplinary research initiative exploring the intersection of architecture, acoustics, music, and immersive technology, particularly through the historic acoustic of the York Guildhall. Across several iterations since 2012, the team have measured and modelled acoustic spaces, recorded choral performances, composed and adapted music for specific acoustic environments, and developed interactive tools—including an app that lets users virtually explore and manipulate spatialised sound in the Guildhall—while also producing educational activities and engaging workshops to deepen understanding of spatial audio and heritage acoustics.
